I am probably massively following the trend here, but I think there is far too much discussion about the politics of the minutiae of treasury rules, borrowing etc, and not enough of industrial policy and facilitating markets that encourage new entrants and allow for creative destruction.

The optimistic take is that the investors are right but on the wrong time horizon. We can all see the teleco & dot com bubbles, but let’s be real, phones & the internet are way bigger than even the most bullish telco bubble era investor thought.

As someone who is, professionally, fairly close to the sustainability world, I cannot tell you how badly I think of the Green Party. They would set the path to net zero back more than the Tories as you wouldn’t even be able to make the “it will be profitable” argument to get stuff going.

So I know quite a few lecturers at Cambridge, and, bluntly, significant numbers of students are opting out of fairly core lectures for fear of being “triggered” This is not about upset, it is about portions of young people lacking mental resilience to deal with core subject matter.

It is entirely possible that the UK, Netherlands, France & Germany are all governed in some way by far right parties. Christ alive.

Aside from the obvious poor & old correlation, I must confess my own experiences of the NHS did quite a lot to radicalise me.
