Nicholas of Cusa thinking about substance, being and creation, trying (it seems) to avoid some sort of pantheist or panentheist position with this beautiful geometric analogy. He reminds me of Ibn Tufayl in some respects.

I love philosophers who are both mystics and sophisticated reasoners: al-Ghazali, Nicholas of Cusa, St Teresa of Avila, Benedict de Spinoza. I enjoy the combination: Wow, I see God with startling clarity, and also here’s a very detailed argument on how human reason works.
