The federal charges against Mangione, which could result in death, underscore capital punishment’s arbitrariness. The death penalty has never been about just punishment, it’s about politics, posturing, & power.

The fed govt filed charges against Luigi Mangione, including murder through use of a firearm (924j), a death eligible offense. The existing state charges could result in LWOP. Rather than some sort of “justice,” this is political grandstanding & a waste of time & resources.
