1/3 Pollutants don't stay in the water. In San Diego, we showed they become a previously unrecognized source of air pollution. Once inhaled, toxic chemicals and airborne pathogens have been linked to cancer, heart attacks, and dementia. As water pollution rises globally, this is everyone's problem.

Iran posted photos of an airplane that has two crew members so they’re either totally clueless or this didn’t really change anything.

Additionally, the side of this building reportedly sustained damage that is not visible in the satellite image. But there is debris visible next to the location of the reported damage as well as what appears to be a hole in the roof. Both are not visible in older imagery.

US funding for global internet freedom ‘effectively gutted’
Programme that funds groups building tech to evade oppressive government controls under serious threat For nearly two decades, the US quietly funded a global effort to keep the internet from splintering into fiefdoms run by authoritarian governments. Now that money is seriously threatened and a large part of it is already gone, putting into jeopardy internet freedoms around the world. Managed by the US state department and the US Agency for Global Media, the programme – broadly called Internet Freedom – funds small groups all over the world, from Iran to China to the Philippines, who built grassroots technologies to evade internet controls imposed by governments. It has dispensed well over $500m (£370m) in the past decade, according to an analysis by the Guardian, including $94m in 2024. Continue reading...

it does seem like there’s a major—though potentially fleeting—opportunity to invest in left-wing media. more than a million people in the most populous city in america just enthusiastically elected a democratic socialist and the world is watching. putting $$ towards left media rn is good business.

UPDATE: A lawsuit in Ghana confirms this Omni ICE flight held 14 third-country nationals, at least seven of whom still appear to be imprisoned. That brings the Ghana total to 42 people on three ICE flights. I've updated the third-country removal tracker:

While I mention Alan in the headline (because I care about that), most of the piece links his layoff to the long string of job cuts and other moves by PMC, which is apparently bleeding money. That revenue problem is also driving PMC's lawsuit against Google, which specifically mentions Rolling Stone

Legacy media is literally caping for white supremacy now. Quoting the man they’re venerating, whose proud life’s work was disparaging marginalized groups, is officially a firing offense, but calling for the homeless to be euthanized is not. Wild.

First the WSJ incorrectly reporting the bullet casings had "trans ideology" written on them, then The Guardian interviews some jagoff and prints claims that the shooter was "leftist," which the source then retracts. This is journalistic malpractice on a systemic scale.
