Though they don't seem to be talking about it publicly, it's worth screaming from the rooftops that university presses have also lost NEH grants. NEH has a program to fund creating OA editions of books born of NEH funded research. Publishers apply directly for those grants, not scholars.

@acls1919.bsky.social, the AHA, & @modernlanguage.bsky.social filed a lawsuit in federal district court today, seeking to reverse the recent actions of the NEH to devastate the agency, including the elimination of grant programs, staff, and entire divisions and programs. 🗃️

This is a widely inaccurate & dangerous mischaracterization. The vaccine was developed in fetal cells obtained from two elective abortions in the early 1960s. There is not abortion debris floating around in the vaccine. And the Vatican has okayed its use. RFK Jr. is again spreading disinformation.

The White House Liaison to the Dept of State just terminated all of the members of the Advisory Committee on Historical Diplomatic Documentation, including me. We need this kind of outside oversight and advocacy now more than ever. But that doesn't align with this Administration's goals.

Not that anyone will ever get hired again, but any day would be a great day for hiring committees to realize that Catholic history is American history.
