Spectrum Next #Delphian progress: been working on the transition into space, and it's almost there... just needs a starfield, planets, the sun... Oh well, one step at a time... I've also been rearranging code to use RAM banks so I only bank in code that's needed. Anyway, starfield next!😀

Secondly, the geese attempt to flip orientation as they walk around the back of the silo. The silo circumference is 16 bricks, each split into 3. Depending on which fraction Harry is in depends on how the geese flip looks - one looks ok, the other two not so much ! 🤯

So on to some geese/hen issues. Firstly, the geese (I've always called them geese) should eat the grain when they're in full view, in the middle of the screen, not at the edges. Sometimes if Harry runs quickly in the opposite direction, the goose is still eating the grain at the edge of the silo...

The bottom of screen DUCK clipping wasn't right. All fixed - it now edges onto the screen, just like the top of screen clipping. This was a PIG to get right, so happy with the result ! Cheat mode on for testing ! 🙃

Acorn Electron / BBC Micro - Chuckulus - WIP Maybe I'll try a thread instead of quote posting stuff !..... Fixed the flashing egg and bouncing off ladders bugs - thankfully quite simple stuff.... Time for some proper level design, as some are just too damn hard/impossible (even without the DUCK !) 🙄

Managed to save 40 T-states for each row of the filled shape (triangle/circle) by only paging when I need to. That's sped rendering up a little. It's an optimisation I've had my eye on for a few weeks, just needed a clear head to make it pretty.

Making good progress on #pico1k! Moved all of the sprite assets into code, smoothed the animations, and shrank a bunch of the logic code down, made it down under 1009 bytes compressed. Now time to enter my favorite loop--each byte I remove gives me more bytes to add new stuff in. :D #pico8

#LogLoads64 Head Over Heels BITD games devs really had to come up with some interesting and fun ideas, the number of original game ideas and concepts from the 8-bit era is phenomenal. The #C64 conversion of Jon & Bernie's HOH is jsut that. It is simply one of the greatest computer games ever made.

Acorn Electron / BBC Micro - Chuckulus - WIP That's the last transition issue fixed ! Harry movement may not look it, but is a lot smoother in general. Found some cycle savings in the Elk key press check proc, which broke the Beeb version - think I'll be splitting the main file into two versions !

Here's a hint where I'm going with this sample sequencer. I've moved the playback loop to zero page and leave the WE (write enable) active which allows output of 16kHz samples (although memory becomes an issue). Need to combine this with my SN76489 conversion of the SID.

Tidying code and fixing some annoying 'features' where sometimes Harry takes an extra pass to transition from jumping to walking / grabbing ladder etc. Just one more to find (but not tonight !) Also fixed Harry plummeting through platform step gap bug ! That'll do duck, more tomorrow......

Acorn Electron / BBC Micro - Chuckulus - WIP The DUCK now has a fixed X orbit around the silo, sped up or slowed by Harry's movement left or right. DUCK Y movement has been dampened so he doesn't wander off screen too much ! Getting there - I need more practice too ! 😅

..... and cheat mode on, so you can actually see what the DUCK is doing related to what Harry is doing !

Got sick of seeing the cube. Figured it was time for an upgrade. The glitch is a maths error in the rotation, an overflow. That'll be fixed when I convert it to the optimised assembler lookup table version. Also need to do hidden face culling. The Elite data is stored differently. Easily done still.
