birds & added saucers, both of which poison pods so when a centipede hits it, it turns into a trailer which move erratically down the screen.

For no reason whatsoever, I decided to name the modes in my

after ice creams! A bit incongruous with the space-shooter theme but... video games 🤷♂️ "popsicle" is a bit of an outlier being an American term but it conveyed exactly what I wanted: beginner mode!

That's the main grid portion of my

game in place, including full-size sprites that look suitably early 80s (to my eyes). Have added some of the nicer touches of the iOS version like flashing pods and flashing/pausing trackers at the sides. Can't wait to add some sfx!

game! Took a bit of working out (watching youtube for reference) but feels great! Thrown bombs wrap & bounce if necessary & can be detonated while in the air. Next thing is to get the bots to throw!

but they seem to cope (and survive) pretty well with a decent compliment of power-ups! I'll add some aggression when I add the "throw" and "kick" behaviour but they're a challenge to beat, even now!

bot AI. Now avoids being blown up and dead-ending where possible. Having fun watching the chaos unfold with on-screen debug info. Next thing will be to give them some aggression and a "smart" level.

The primary directive of the bots in my

game is to not get blown up. Experimenting (I have no idea what I'm doing) with giving tiles a score (red is negative) and ensuring bots move to a higher score to avoid explosions. Seems like an okay first step!

After a brief test of a solid radar for

Radar Rally map editor coming along nicely. Have added in a "Radar Rat Race" power-up that turns flags into cheese (why not? 🤣) and doubles the scores. Also optimised large maps which ran a bit jittery.
