2/2 A few white feathers are fairly irresistible, a few scattered near the mud tray can help to get all the birds in the colony interested if they seem to be reluctant to find the mud. Interested in finding out more about how you can help / like a talk for your local group ? Get in touch 🙂

Can you create a mud pie for house martins? It’s been pretty dry spring, making it difficult for birds building nests Plastic plant trays can be useful for keeping the mud wet for longer, good on hard surfaces, they can even be used successfully on flat roofs if safe/ practical to do so. 1/2

Spring flowers - the Early Dog-violet. It has no scent (unlike the Scented Violet). Its cousin, the Common Dog-violet, traditionally flowers in April, the Early Dog-violet in March. The flowers are similar but the Early Dog-violet has a darker purple spur behind the petals. 📷 Graeme Lyons

Awesome resilience. Scots Pines pioneering the treeline frontier on the

plateau - very close to the highest recorded pine, which is apparently ~1,160m on Cairn Lochan, a kilometre away. Exciting to see these beauties taking root and the work underway to restore the montane woodland zone.
