A day in the life of a writer --

A vital piece of trans allyship is actually in supporting children's rights to bodily autonomy from the out. Someone is complaining their child wants to cut their hair short or grow it long? Point out that it's the child's hair. Why shouldn't they have it how they want it? Why is that parent upset?

This kind of analysis really frustrates me because there are a lot of problems with worldbuilding in modern stories! Oftentimes it feels like we're throwing together disparate ideas to create something that feels like a pastiche at best, instead of focusing on what works for the story or character.

We are swiftly headed for a society in which a trans kid must undergo state mandated torture, are banned from being on line, are banned from hanging out in most public spaces, are banned from using bathrooms at school, banned from accessing the health care they need, and banned from playing sports.

All right, let's get this over with, America

It's about precise intention. The Age of Blood is both a Fantasy and a Romance, so I'm need to honor both genres. Other projects have different goals. So in that sense, projects aren't inherently better or worse, and I can only judge each one by if I have succeeded at the specific objective.
