We have to differentiate between defending the right of all to disagree and being indifferent to the impact of what is being said - the message from yesterday is not simply free speech is safe but that we need to work harder to counter those who claim division offers anything for our future.

Another interesting one for English Language. I’ve seen some local WhatsApp’s that are SO cross about the traffic built up due to no drive zones round schools near me. They can’t drive in 1 road at 8am…there’s a tube, National rail and 3 buses within 10 mins of my house. It’s absurd!

These are awesome. And #TeamEnglish would be an awesome class writing project type thing. When I was an NQT we did a great SOW called ‘the village’ where kids did a range of drama/ talk/ group activities that led to different kids of writing. I’d absolutely love to try it again!

This is a great thread and reminds me so much of things that @barbarableiman.bsky.social and others have said about English. There is a whole generation of teachers though, for whom these feel like new arguments. Especially where ITT is in new hubs and engages little with subject research
