Looking a bit like a ragged version of a dandelion, mouse-ear hawkweed has lemon-yellow flower heads that are tinged with red at their outer edges. It likes grassy places with short turf and chalky soils. It has been used in herbal medicine to treat respiratory infections. #FactFriday

The leaves of salad burnet comprise up to 12 pairs of rounded, toothed leaflets, and form a rosette at the base of the flower stem. Its rounded flower heads are reddish and speckled. The flower heads of Salad burnet made it a favourite among herbalists for helping to heal wounds. #FactFriday
