Tonight marks the grand opening of the art exhibit, “The Joy of Wrong Turns,” at 5 p.m. My recent photographic work, as well as the paintings of Wes Roden, a young and rising art superstar are on display. Josh Collins, the talented image maker and poet, has curated an artful presentation.

I met @thiagoumex, a Havana based poet, and asked him if I could snap a couple of photos. He happily said yes, so I photographed him outdoors. My experience photographing complete strangers in Cuba was very positive. Truly the friendliest people I’ve ever met as a tourist in a foreign country.

Charles, a person I’d never met, was kind to allow me to take a few portraits.

It was a surreal moment: we were finishing a delicious dinner and look out to see a man shimmying up a utility pole. Upon further examination, he was a cable installer using his wits and a rope to go up the pole. I see here over and over again how people work so hard and are so resourceful. #pana

Meet Marco. He’s a terrific travel guide in the town of San Juan, Guatemala. Marco skillfully navigated the Rostro Maya en San Juan trail for us … we probably would have ended up god knows where without his guidance.
