#WritingLifeMonthly I have DNF'd only one book and it generally shocks people lol. No Country for Old Men. I acknowledge McCarthy was a driving force in writing but I couldn't get past his choice to forego punctuation/dialogue markers. Got sick of re-reading passages 😅

When an author makes the protagonist gaze in the mirror and describe in detail her pouty red lips, ice blue or chocolate brown eyes and shoulder-length jet black hair... I know the rest of the book will suck. Let the reader use their imagination. 🙄 #booksky #writinglifemonthly

Outside of bad editing and writing (i feel that’s a deal breaker for most people), for me a huge NO is poor quality sex and meaningless violence. I’m fine if it’s there but ya gotta make me feel something and justify its existence. #WritingLifeMonthly

I am the worst when it comes to DNF. If a book doesnt grab me by the second page, I put it down. I feel badly for it, but my attention span is that of a goldfish. I just can't keep going. #Booksky #WritingLifeMonthly

I DNF a few times a month, usually within the first third. Sometimes I stick out a book that I don't like just to see where it's going, but mostly I'd rather just pick something else and move on.
