reminding yr11 of some of the great features of the casio classwiz. We looked at HCF, LCM, product of primes, percentage button and substitution. And this is only scratching the surface!

exploring quadratic graphs with yr8. Love sketching and discussing turning points, lines of symmetry and roots. Also great to discuss how this knowledge is needed at ks4, a-level and beyond.

we looked at dividing decimals by writing the division as a fraction, finding an equivalent fraction with an integer in the denominator then carrying out the calculation. A method from

in her book on mathematical methods.

"The best way to revise maths is to do maths" - Y11 maths teachers around now. This QR code poster generates simple revision grids of 12 questions loosely* tied to GCSE grades. *This will get better over the years. (I'm almost 3 years into the MathsBot curriculum project now)

I saw someone the other day post something similar to this At the end of each question I have put hints as to what the marks on the mark scheme are for. I have done this for one of the Edexcel Foundation Mock Sets and think my group will find it useful as a scaffold.

Are "book looks" a waste of time?
Book looks and work scrutinies are a staple in many schools. But can they actually tell us anything about teaching or learning?

Introducing gradient to year 10 as a rate of change. 'As x increases by 1, how does y change'. When working with gradient will represent change in x to change in y as a ratio then write in 1:n to get the gradient. Great opportunity to link to other skills.
