Been painting up the third squad for my US Infantry. Painting 1 model at a time instead of batch painting. Each model takes roughly 3.5-4 hours. 3 out of 12 finished so far.

Now with added buildings… The next terrain build project needs to be adding those items of scatter terrain that make the world look lived in.

Just added this MMG team to my US platoon. Wonderfully characterful sculpts from W3 Wargaming.

I love how expressive the @warlordgames.com faces are. Many other companies could do woth taking note of this. Heroic proportions are good for adding this sort of character.

Built this wonderful model kit today. I do love a Rubicon kit! Tank Commander is from Trenchworx.

I’m getting real “drive over there I want to hit it with my sword” vibes from this tank commander. A 3d print from a Trenchworks STL file.

There defo needs more wargames presence at the expo! It’s very top level at the moment, the usual big players in the industry (obviously). But the number of tiny rpg stands and small businesses at expo shows how accessible it can be for smaller sellers.

Finished off these 6 chaps. Now for their LMG support and another 6 men, to make a standard rifle squad or a mechanised infantry squad.

I built up 2 LMG teams for a mechanise Infantry Squad. I didn’t want them prone like many so many MG teams, so I kitbashed the new Warlord Airborne LMGs onto GI bodies. I scraped the elbow patches off and filled gaps around the arms and now they look the part despite also looking very “Hollywood”.

Played a great game of Bolt Action on Saturday evening. British attacking into the Germans, Normandy, Normandy, June 20, 1944. Despite ultimately being caught out in the open by a deadly artillery barrage, a well timed German counter attack was able to wallop the British advance.

I’ve been a bit remiss about posting any hobby updates. Truth be told I’m flitting between projects and floundering a bit. I’ve been using different projects to avoid burnout but I need to finish something to feel like I’m achieving… So today I finished the skin on these GIs.

I used to think that I preferred painting figures than actually gaming with them. Then I realised I was just gaming with the wrong type of people. #wargaming

Building number 2! A Charlie Foxtrot Models kit embellished with grit, bricks and tiles.

The first ruined building is finished. A #charliefoxtrotmodels kit based on pvc foam board and covered in grit and bricks then drenched in mix of watered down PVA and IPA and painted up with spray paints, various acrylics and pigments. The posters are free from the @sarissaprecision website.

I’ve done some more work on my ruined houses from #charliefoxtrotmodels. Lots of corse sand, tiny bricks and gobs of watered down modpodge and IPA.

Another officer finished up for my US Infantry. He’s a 3D print from 3D Breed. He is scaled at 105% and fits wonderfully with the modern Warlord Games plastics.

Working on some ruins. Kinda making it up as I go. I’ve got a ton of bricks to add next, and then some bits of wood… Let’s see how it all goes.

5 weeks and squad 1 alongside a few supporting elements is ready. @warlordgames.com plastic and metal models.

Rifles/muskets/bows/guns always rank up there with horses as my least favourite thing about painting historical miniatures. Anyway, that’s the recipes/process sorted for the rifles and helmets. Now to finish off all the other models in the batch. Models are @warlordgames.com plastic US infantry.

Only a few bits left on the first tranche of GIs. Guns helmets and bases.

Come on #Victrix! Get your plastic WW2 ranges released! I need them! I realise they’re not on here yet. But I still wanted to do an “old man shouting at the sky” thing…

Finished my first Canadian Jump Off Point. One thing I really love about the AB range of figures is that they provide lots of figures that, while not necessarily useful on the gaming table, tell great little stories as a vignette. #wargaming #SpreadTheLard #miniaturepainting #minipainting

Dialled in all the colours for my US infantry. Now for the rest of the platoon. Hopefully the Fighting First will be table ready soon enough.

Weathering powder applied. I’ll dust some of this off later. Three colours of foliage added, the darker to the bottom, lighter to the top. I think I’ve just about finished. You can keep adding but returns diminish and you can go too far if not careful.

Weapons in place. Decals on. Once these have set I’ll do more weathering and add camo netting.
