So in May, I spent 3 weeks in Wales, engaging with small steam trains by various means! So I started the trip with a layover in Welshpool, where I took the opportunity to pose one chunky continental loco with another!

The L Class was favoured by civil engineering contractors, and worked on several light railways, with two versions surviving into preservation. Order books close for MW L Class next Monday. buff.ly/H8B9tjR

One thing that I do see as an absolute achievement is Enfys. In a 16mm form was designed from the ground up by me and spent those glorious days being pulled or propelled around lechfann without a single bind or jam up. The next process is now motorising her!

In the early 1920s, like many other railways, the L&P bought 6 ex-WDLR wagons for their own use. 5 D class wagons and 1 H class tanker. The opens got board extensions and block buffers for quarry trains,whilst the tanker was only given draw-hooks. Only two Ds would be brown. #L&P #portethwaite

Today I glued down the platform surface and whipped up a decent ballast mix! Making sure to keep the points clear, I did my first ever ballast application!

It's time to import a thread from 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘱𝘭𝘢𝘤𝘦. So. I make a thing called 'Auld Lang Syne' - a series about talking trains made with model trains. It's silly, a bit odd, quite janky, full of dad jokes and surprisingly endorsed by people who usually have impeccable taste 🤷‍♂️

The final touches were a new safety valve and whistle, a copper cap around the chimney and his iconic brass dome. I also added some pieces of cardboard to act as stepladders until I can make better ones. I took the standard face, glued it down and James was done. (5/5)

Not wanting to be overshadowed by the "big trains" up top at Wharf, The Llechfan Garden Railway Gala had an impromptu cavalcade of their own - with WELL over 200 wheels in celebration of Railway 200! (80+ engines, with 400+ wheels in total - of course ending with Rocket!)

160 YEARS ON Today in 1865 the Talyllyn Railway received its Act of Parliament and officially opened! And now, many years later, day 1 of our Anything Goes Gala has come to an end with a stunning quadruple header - with more to come tomorrow!!
