This was my reaction. I grew up in Brockville and it’s a real easy drive to Ottawa. Keeping the passengers on the train overnight is awful.

The first time I took a train to Toronto and back (I was 7 or 8), we got stranded in Brockville because the train ahead of us hit a car and it shut down the entire line Via had 3 buses there within an hour. Everyone was home an hour or two late despite a meandering detour through Smiths Falls

I am stepping away from my litigation practice with one last appearance on Monday. In the short term I hope to fill my time offering 1 on 1 and group training for other lawyers on building a practice and mentoring. I’m also working on some education tools for young athletes.

Well, credit where it's due to the MAG. 20 years ago it could take an hour or so to file something in the Superior Court in Toronto. Now, it takes a mere 13 days (and 5 hours).

I need to refer out a client urgently on a sports matter. The appeal deadline is 21 days from last Friday although action may be needed much faster. Please let me know if you are available.

Why shouldn’t we drop unnecessary emergencies on people on Friday afternoons? I reacted to unexpected urgent news with a significant panic attack, worked the weekend dealing with the aftermath and entered this week sick and unable to work. I’m done with this nonsense.

An important thing I’ve learned is the benefit of not struggling alone and asking for help from those you respect and who care for you. There are more of those people out there than you think. They often have a clearer view of your crisis than when you are alone spiralling in the weeds.

I started using Hume Health as a health tracking device. It informs me that I’m aging 1.7 times as fast as normal and that I’m actually 47 years old. My 45 year old husband reports that he is 39. Frankly, that sounds about right based on our current levels of physical fitness and how my back feels.

I’m in the very early phases of planning a podcast. I intend to interview various senior lawyers (and maybe other professionals) on their careers with a focus on the hardest times and how they’ve managed through significant struggles.

Do I know anyone who has reverted to a dumb phone? I’m thinking about it. I know there will be some inconveniences but I’m sure I can manage hem since I do own an iPad. Any unexpected issues seen by people who made the switch?
