My priorities have changed a bit lately! For the time being, I'm going to be stepping away from large events/cons/parties to focus more on smaller group things so I can be more present, give it my all, and find what meshes best with this guy. Had the privilege of attending a fundraising event for an org that supports trans/queer/minority youth. Watching and helping them reach their goals in real time, and the roar of the crowd when it happened, brought a little piece of hope which was very much needed this week. 🥰

I've been full of feelings lately. Some good, some bad, some 'I wanna hide away and create'. This has spurred me to want to draw (and maybe model) in between writing sets. Is this a bad idea? An impulse? Validation seeking? Are y'all gonna get mad if I start posting crap art on the semi-regular? 😰

There were a number of requests for labor day weekend weddings, which is... interesting... For the record, these were not at a beach. However, it is certainly not as strange as the ones on new year's eve (we've done one), or the most unhinged of all: valentine's day weddings (noep). 💐💍💔

Having to pause edits on book one and first drafting book two to do some essential worldbuilding over the last few months has me thinking on the daily: "have I gone too far?" versus "what am I still missing?" Solid characters are very important to me, but we're a product of our environment, so...

One of the places we went to was Loveland Aquarium, which was way more than i expected. So many neat critters, many of them not in the water! They even had a mantis shrimp, which looks almost fake~

Vulnerability tiem: I still have a ways to go learning how to share spaces with folks with unmanaged adhd. I felt the resentments bubble up... But I didn't act on them, I tried to listen, to accommodate, and that made the trip quite fun, I was told. Past me wouldn't have done this. It's a start.

Okay yeah I think I can say that my fear of flying has been mostly vanquished, at least for now. We hit turbulence and I found it... fun, instead of scary. Go figure

It's amazing how you can have like three different biomes all within an hour of each other...

If you like offroading-ish, solar farms, a giant rock in the middle of nowhere, 600 shotgun shells, probably snakes, and the distant sound of gunfire in what feels like New Vegas... Lone Rock is for you~ 🐍🪨

Yesterday we went to Bryce Canyon in southern UT. I'm only posting a few curiosities to not spoil it, because if you can ever go, you absolutely MUST, it's amazing~

On the flip side, if you accidentally make eye contact with a stranger more than once, they start starting at you with a look of severe worry. It's kind of funny

One of the things I've noticed rather extensively here is that folks on average don't like to make eye contact or greet one another. If you think about the location and culture, it kind of makes sense. Conversely, the international tourists we met in droves at the park were super friendly.

Red rocks on the way to what I'll post soon. Some are just standing there precariously lol. I definitely pissed off some critter while taking one of these and had to wiggle out of there. Stupid derg moments 🐲💢

Animal buddies on the island~ Exactly one antelope, bison, lizard friend, and sleeping horses (learned they nap standing up!)

Antelope Island, out in the middle of Salt Lake, is a curious place with really wild geography, i really liked it~
