Hmm... I notice some people don’t realize that the Russian name Vladimir (Владимир), like Putin’s, and the Ukrainian name Volodymyr (Володимир), like Zelensky’s, are exactly the same name. Putin is called Volodymyr in Ukraine, and Zelensky is called Vladimir in Russia.

The Russian male name Vladímir (Влади́мир) is NEVER shortened to Vlad (Влад). Instead, the usual short forms or nicknames for Vladimir are Volódya, Vóva and their diminutive variations. Vlad (Влад) is traditionally the short form of the different name Vladisláv (Владислав), not Vladimir.
