I can’t speak highly enough of Queer Yoga by Mookaite Jasper! I was lucky to read this before it came out, and I’ve enjoyed folding the ideas into my practice. It’s an accessible year-long companion, with monthly themes that progress intentionally and lots of variations for diverse bodies and minds.

Here are some things that we can work towards as suicide prevention: - Community care, - Trans rights, - Enough resources for everyone regardless of ‘productivity’, - A ban on conversion ‘therapy’, - An end to fatphobia in medicine, - Adequate pain relief for everyone, - Decolonisation, - Abolition.

I wish more leftists would understand that the idea that fatness is unhealthy isn't some kind of objective truth, but a myth created to make profit for the weight cycling industry, using a racialized, gendered, classed body ideal.

In one week, it will have been a year since we lost Lucy. I spent this afternoon finding solace in the beautiful and soulful work of @ECCarterArt, whose exhibition at Hartlepool Art Gallery is about grief, colour, and legacy. I’m glad to got to experience it, and to add to it.

I’ve been getting some lovely feedback for Queer Minds lately from people around the world. I always feel humbled when people tell me they’ve enjoyed something I’ve made, but it feels even better with Queer Minds because so many cool people made it with me, and they all deserve to be celebrated!

My patch for the Trans Unity Quilt. I made it to honour the life of my wife. It’s a call for justice for her and all of her trans siblings who have died due to transphobia. The fabric comes from her clothes. It’s currently stuck in a sorting office, so fingers crossed that my patch makes it safely!

One of the best things about being a therapist is hearing the stories of those who don’t often get to share their feelings. It feels so liberatory and so important. I loved working that ethos into Queer Minds and The Trans Guide to Mental Health and Well-Being.

The Trans Guide to Mental Health and Well-Being offers supportive advice and useful tips for trans and non-binary folks on various mental health matters, such as anxiety, depression, body image, and trauma. It’s written by a trans psychotherapist, for trans people, with care and understanding.

Writing is hard and it only gets easier with practice. You don't get hench if someone else is lifting weights. The very suggestion story tellers should use AI is such bullshit

Here’s what I read in March! March was a lighter reading week in terms of quantity, mostly because both of these books took a while to sink in for me, which I often appreciate in a book. My favourite stories in Songs of a Dead Dreamer were Alice’s Last Adventure and Notes on the Writing of Horror.

I wrote Queer Minds because LGBTQ+ and neurodivergent stories can’t be side notes to therapy; they’re right at the heart of it. When we make room for them and ground it all in self-consent and community care, we can foster healing that is collaborative, liberatory, revolutionary, and truly healing.

I really enjoyed writing Queer Minds! It was a pleasure to tap into my creativity with so many amazing contributors, and I loved learning about their unique and familiar experiences. It’s uplifting to listen to others’ stories, and it’s exciting that I have the chance to share them with you, too.

Wrex often keeps me company while I write. Right now I’m working on a non-fiction and a horror fiction project, and maybe neither will be published, but it feels important to write anyway. The cats are a comforting presence through it all, even when Wrex bites my hand (as encouragement??).

Some people I met in York yesterday: - A tawny owl named Fidget, - My neighbour Totoro, - Claudia Winkleman and some very brave pianists, - My excellent friend Karen (who took most of these photos). Not pictured - a bearded dragon called Spikes who was snuggled up in someone’s scarf on the train.

Queer Minds is a book of interviews with LGBTQ+ individuals worldwide, exploring healing, resistance, creation, and belonging. Topics include queer dreams, how transness and ADHD foster creativity, training as a non-binary therapist, recovery from forced conversion therapy, and much more!

This February I got to explore (and re-explore) some classics. Carmilla and Gender Trouble were both enjoyable rereads! I also had a lot of fun with the ‘Is this place haunted, or is it the trauma?’ vibes of The Luminous Dead and The Fall of the House of Usher. (The answer, in both cases, is ‘Yes’).

To all my lovely friends out there living in and with oppressed bodies: you’re truly wonderful. Your body is a beautiful body. Natural as the sea, awe-inspiring as a sunset, worthwhile as a garden. Anyone who tells you otherwise doesn’t deserve your time or energy.

Have you had a moment to check in with yourself today? Have you had a drink, eaten something, taken your meds, stretched if your body allows, and spoken kindly to yourself? This is a gentle reminder to do some self-care, because ✨you’re worth it✨ (If this sounds really hard, I’m still proud of you!)

Finding supportive and helpful mental health resources as someone who is trans and/or non-binary can be really challenging. I genuinely hope that my books can offer some of that support for you. You absolutely deserve to be recognised and understood fully.

It's worth noting that this was also a pretext to open up new services designed and run by people who push an unproven pseudoscientific "Gender Exploratory Therapy" model that has been likened to conversion therapy by international experts.

I kicked off 2026 with some fantastic books! I particularly loved diving into Piranesi by Susanna Clarke; it’s a brilliant adventure, and the main character is great company. I also found myself exploring books about different kinds of grief this January, which was (maybe surprisingly) comforting.
