In recent months, I've made it a point to start using my local library again and visiting my local parks. My biggest takeaway? Why the hell didn't I start doing all this sooner?

Nine books read so far in 2026 (which is a lot for me), six written by women. Yes, that's on purpose. Latest finished read: the memoir CORRECTIONS IN INK by Keri Blakinger. A good, if tough, read, and the kind of book i might not have ever discovered if not for my local library.

I just finished Taylor Jenkins Reid's ATMOSPHERE, and y'all... I can't remember the last time I found myself staring off into the distance after finishing a book like that. Holy shit, what a read... best of the year so far.

Today, my alma mater -- a school I love and work at -- was the site of a shooting. They're calling it an act of terror. There's a special hell in seeing the Breaking News graphics on CNN and instantly recognizing where the B roll is from. Mourning the lost, thankful the body count wasn't higher.
