I’m feeling very into Capcom lately

i forgot i should post everything twice, so since the process I used lent itself to it: a pretty lengthy post about the making of this GI Joe cover, over on the blog, using all the space and features that don't fit on here-- tozo.today (760 words, 14 pictures, one video, four footnotes)

i find it incredibly amusing that capcom has made me almost always associate marvel characters with them. when i think of the x-men or spider-man, for a split second in my brain i go “oh yeah from marvel vs capcom”

as the year closes out, id just like to thank all of my friends and followers for the kindness and support you’ve shown my work again this year, especially to those who have followed me through all the changes in my art. i’ve not had much published this year, but I made some of my best work so far!

i got a ps vita from a thrift store for 10 dollars and now im a vita guy (im just playing ps1 games)

Honestly I think piracy discourse is a bit of a psy-op? Like, every time it comes up people waste all this time bickering over it, while the publishers and corps keep getting away with not paying a livable wage to the artists who make their mountains of money for them.

heard something about #PortfolioDay so here’s my stuff: im carson, an illustrator and a cartoonist, predominantly working in comics and book covers.

god im so glad i switched to linux. its been so much nicer (and faster!) than windows or mac os ever was for me. and now my cintiq and printer work flawlessly without use of proprietary drivers!

reading some of the masters today

genuinely unable to phrase my disgust at the situation where certain people have come to the conclusion that algorithms can perhaps maybe potentially be people but Palestinians are invariably and inescapably a collection of bothersome automatons

reading a comic and seeing the background be very obviously a photo with a monochromatic clip studio filter and automated screen tone just sucks the life out the comic for me. like AT LEAST trace over the photo if youre gonna use the photo

getting sagat, c. viper, alex, and ingrid all in one season for SF6 is so cool. now give me SAKURA AND MAKOTO SO ALL OF MY FAVORITE CHARACTERS CAN BE IN SF6

throwing away a finished page because it isnt necessary or fit well is a gutting feeling. at least i dont need to draw a new one to replace it!

Outlets won't stop coverage or boycott em either, they'll keep on servicing this vile enterprise, doing free PR, there's no such thing as principle. Because it is above all else about servicing Industry over an Artform, that former takes precedence over the latter. And I'll never respect it. Ever.

i really wish i had the ability to just take a couple years away from *working* in comics just so that i can study the masters and hone my craft. all i want is to get better at what i do.

Being informed that DC has cancelled Gretchen Felker-Martin's work to appease the whiners of the world. Should be a reminder for folks as to what Corporate IP comics actually are, because ppl forget and act like these enterprises are progressive to justify their consumption.

For what little it’s worth I’m sure the book was cancelled not because of “DC” but because of Time Warner, but that’s precisely why it is unhealthy for a culture that purports to be progressive to be ruled by mega-conglomerates, and why a culture ruled by mega-conglomerates *cannot* be progressive

this is soft, dude. this is really, really soft. a few years back, Frank Tieri threatened another critic and myself with violence, directly, at a comic-con over Batman opinions. That dude kept his job. He slid into my DMs with a fake apology. C. Kirk called for extermination. A joke didn't kill him.
