Still getting calls almost every day asking for help with housing stabilization. The “repeal” was total. Where is the “replace”? It’s a cold winter, and GRH is not a viable option for families with children. @governorwalz.mn.gov

Governor Walz defunded our housing program because other agencies committed fraud. No oversight. Various stages of grief, mostly anger. Shelters overflowing, cold weather. Calls for help every day — so much need — we do as we can. Now — Retribution against whistleblowers? Was it deliberate?

If a person can’t afford “affordable,” can we guarantee a voucher?

“Affordable” — housing, food, transportation, childcare, medical care, arts, athletics, vacations, gifts, hobbies, insurance, taxes. Saving for retirement and emergencies. Living with joy and comfort. Having dignified work to fit ones skills and talents.

Housing instability can be solved. We can match people with available housing. We can take stock of what is needed. Some need supports. Some need vouchers. Some needs are known. Some can be better understood. Every other species on earth makes shelter a priority — maybe humans could too.

Please do not depend on elected officials to make ranked-choice voting a priority. Elected officials often see ranked-choice voting as a threat to their incumbency. Ranked-choice voting will require a sustained and widespread effort from you and your neighbors to get it through 9/9.

The winner of a ranked-choice election has earned broad support across the electorate, having gained 1st, 2nd, and 3rd choice votes, and can act based on a stronger mandate 8/9.

We’ve all seen voters twist themselves around trying to figure out who everyone else is voting for. Ranked-choice voting allows the voter to vote based on their personal support for a candidate rather than who they think other like-minded voters will prefer 7/9.

Communities with ranked-choice voting experience more positive campaigning and fewer attack / negative campaigns because the candidates are aiming for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd choice votes 6/9.

Ranked-choice voting allows more candidates from marginalized communities to campaign on a more even field 5/9

Ranked-choice voting eliminates expensive primaries, and eliminating primaries allows lesser-known candidates more time to get their message across to voters 4/9
