There’s no such thing as a perfect person, so why do so many people demand a perfect candidate? I think of it this way: Primary Elections are for expressing my preference. General Elections are mainly for reducing harm. Ya gotta accept that nobody is perfect, and we still need to elect someone.

We gotta deal with the fact that so many people were eager to join ICE. A guy like this? It wasn’t about a signing bonus. It’s a depraved lust to control others. A sickness that’s been brewing near the surface. Trump lanced the boil. The sick is spilling out. How deep does the pustule go?

People WILL grow numb to the brazen murder of innocents by ICE. First it’s shocking. Then it’s saddening. Soon it’s just another one. They have half of America convinced Renee Good was a domestic terrorist. They’ll do the same to anyone else they murder. We have to push back against the lies.

If you don’t have the decency to call for ICE to be abolished after this, resign. Not “out of our city” - ABOLISHED. And while you’re at it, call for Trump’s impeachment. Loudly and often. If you can’t clear that very low bar, it’s time to hang it up.

What if we started a “Blue Lives Matter” movement in response to the recent ICE murders? State & Federal LEOs have killed with near absolute impunity for most of our history. Historically it’s been about class & race. Being poor and/or non-white put you at greater risk. Now it’s about politics.

Part of the job of elected representatives is to /move votes/ from nay to yea (or vice versa). If you’re in Congress, saying “we don’t have the votes so we shouldn’t talk about that” demonstrates a fundamental misunderstanding of the job you’re in.

This is a growing sentiment [taps quoted post] If Democrats don’t wake up they’ll wind up getting dragged into the dustbin of history along with the GOP when this is over. In reality they could go first. This is an existential moment for America, for humanity, & (incidentally) also for Democrats.

We are not the first people, or the first country, to suffer under a tyrannical government that does not respect our lives, or our rights. There is a method for how to effectively resist, and eventually topple, such a regime. We can learn from others who came before us. This is my favorite guide.
