Current project is going in a very different direction (some convergence of romantasy/paranormal romance/horror/dark academia) and I'm wondering if it might be best practice to splinter into a pen name. I want to switch up my whole publishing process so could be a good opportunity for a full rethink

I know 'mantasy' sounds silly, but I do think authors like Weir and Dinniman are writing very 'dad-focused' SFF. Books for the everyman who likes cars and football, rather than the subcultural nerd niche types who are the usual audience for genre fiction. 1/2

Tired of fantasy that thinks worldbuilding is: “The raknash stood with its ceramikai upon its melashash.” And give me more fantasy that thinks worldbuilding is: “She wore a shell bracelet because she was pregnant.”

WE DID NOT FALL SHORT

A few times now I've attempted to write a mid-2000s fantasy/horror loosely based on my own experiences as a teenager, but every time it makes me start spinning out and I have to stop. Those weren't good years for me, even though I think they'd be interesting to others.

I want to play too! 9 games! Diablo and Goldeneye could easily be swapped with Age of Empires, Animal Crossing, Guild Wars 2, Minecraft... There's a ton of games I like a lot. But the other 6 feel particularly special to me and it would be hard to swap them out. Meme from my9games.com.

Rewatching Stranger Things 1 in the wake of the finale and, man, this is a totally different show. Tonally, visually, thematically. It's not even the same genre. Wish we could have had 5 seasons of *this* show
