Carefully, skilfully building a sense of relational safety back into a person’s life so they can feel accompanied in their most frightening moments is often disparaged by proponents of the medical model. But to me this is the definition of “care”.

Every woman I know particularly of an older age (I'm ancient ) has a story on the scale of physical, mental, or sexual abuse in their lifetime from inappropriate comments to non consensual touch , coercion, and yes rape , rape , that they didn't report. And still here we are .

It is often important for me to connect with the granular soil of the Earth beneath my feet & other times it’s critical for me to connect to the recognition that the rock we call home & Earth is infinitesimal. The awe of both is important for my own grounding.

One of my real frustrations w the Ed system has been the pattern of leaders denying a crisis when the people in the midst of it are crying for support. It’s gaslighting, it’s damaging to trust, weakens relationships & you can be sure the students do not benefit.
