Last night the feed was turned off permanently. This decision was made due to Bluesky voluntarily complying to a new anti-human law from which they are already exempt. I would like to thank everyone who has used, spread the word of, contributed to and appreciated the labor of the feed.

The Yuri feed is up and running again. At the time of this post, it is running about 6 hours. It should catch up to real time by the end of the night.

The feed died on Yuri day. There was too much Yuri. Hopefully we'll have it back up tonight or tomorrow morning.

Cloudflare's repair script is going to take at least another week before it is done running, in the best case scenario. Apologies, we got what we paid for. Options for the future of the feed are being weighed.

The feed has been shut down for an indeterminate amount of time. Will update with details later.

Server Maintenance 👷‍♀️👷‍♀️ 🚧

The #Yuri feed is back up! It went down last night when Jetstream disconnected (still working on fail-safe solutions to this). I took the opportunity to write some new settings that would let me catch the feed up much quicker than before. 11 hours was caught up in 20 minutes, instead of a few hours.

A billing issue caused our VPS service to be interrupted. IT has been restarted and the feed will begin catching up from yesterday. Apologies.

The Jetstream instances we source our posts from was knocked out last night, about 12 hours ago. The feed is in the process of catching back up to real time. Expect some possible weirdness for the next few hours as everything gets back into sync.

During the past hour there was an outage of Bluesky's jetstream, which is the live feed of posts that BlueNotify uses to send notifications That's resolved now! The average time from post to push notification in BlueNotify is less than a second, so if you continue to see delays something is weird!

Bluesky's jetstream is back online. BlueNotify notifications will continue going out (and the system is processing the backlog so no notification should be missed!)

The problem has been isolated. The last 9 hours of the feed will be rebuilt to include all languages, this may result in some odd chronological behavior. Sorry for this oversight.

I think non-English languages have somehow been broken for the feed. I will look into it later today.

The feed is back up and running. Unfortunately there is about a 14 hour gap of posts that were not picked up and recovering that time is not practical option at the moment. We may be stretching the limits of free resources. Apologies.

Another background update to the #Yuri feed. Changed some code up for better future-proofing compatibility. This sets up the next update, which will make it easier to fine tune the feed to more frequently catch content. It's like AI but without the A.

The #yuri feed is about 2-3 times faster now and has one less point of failure. 👋👹👋

We don't have have hard rules against most explicit imagery but we're not very lenient when it comes to hashtag spam. Please keep things relevant by not copy pasting all of your tags onto every image, regardless of relevance.

The problem with the feed has been resolved and it has been restarted. The backlog of the last 17 hours of posts have been added.

We are also no longer promoting #GL as a primary tag. It will work for verified on topic accounts (this includes GL Dramas). GL has always been difficult to maintain and full of false positives, unfortunately, so it is being retired. I will try to verify as many accounts as I can, that still use it.

If it wasn't already obvious, the new version of the feed is not in chronological order by post time. It is in order of when the post arrives at the feed. This is a deliberate choice and was made to open up new ways a post can be added the feed, without immediately getting buried by newer posts.

An invalid commit record caused the feed to crash. The code should now be more robust against such pitfalls. The software is currently in the process of catching up with the last 6 hours.

I don't like doing this but if you enjoy the work I've put into the feed, could some of you raise a 🤏 wee bit of hell over the mess that is language filtering and detection on this app? Reposts appreciated. 🙏 #FixLanguages Addressing this issue, opened nearly two years ago, would be a huge start.

Down for maintenance! The Yuri / 百合 / 백합 feed 2.0 getting very close to launching. You will not need to update your feed subscriptions when the switchover happens. We will be moving from Skyfeed to our own solutions. Expect a feed substantially faster at updating, better moderation and more Yuri!

We plan to leave Skyfeed by the end of the month.

Alpha build of the new and improved Yuri feed is up and running! Right now, it only supports post with any of the main four ( #yuri, #百合, #백합, #GL ) paired with an embed or link. You do not NEED to follow this feed, when it is complete it will replace the current feed. But you can test this one out!

There has been an influx of users using several tags unrelated to their posts and getting into the feed as a result. Please report to this account if you find such post in the feed (DM Chat is open).

This revision is in the process of being reverted to the previous version for the time being. It seems several things have broken and will need to be rebuilt.🙏

A major revision of the feed has just been pushed, should update but soon. Many optimizations have been removed to allow the inclusion of more logic blocks. For this reason, we will be experimenting with input settings that captures the last 24 hours of posts, rather than the last 7 days.

@pfrazee.com @support.bsky.team The latest version of the app has broken how URLs are parsed in messages. The bottom link of the post below ignores the ? and everything after it. The link is valid but the post directs just to bsky.app. Other apps, such as Skyfeed, still redirect properly.

I've been getting reports of some posts not being indexed by SkyFeed correctly. I suspect that this is caused by my indexer being overloaded and the firehose stream being a bit wonky. So I'm currently in the process of rewriting the indexer in Rust with a self-hosted jetstream instance and relay2

Does anyone have any suggestions on how we could exclude Doki Doki Literature Club content related to just the character Yuri without excluding Doki Doki Literature Club fan works that are related to the Yuri genre, which may or may not include the character Yuri?

This feed does not own the tags it uses to populate itself, so there are always going to be some unrelated post. Removing these post involves varying levels of complexity. If you are an active user of the feed, I would appreciate self-moderation when using the tags to post non-Yuri memes. cont ⬇

@redsolver.dev Feeds seem to be losing post in reverse chronological order. I had nothing newer than 5 hours old a few minutes ago. Now it's 6.

SkyFeed database server is not reachable for some reason, I'm on it
