Thinking about the guy who everyone made fun of in 2020 for saying “we would vote right now if we could” and as wrongheaded as he was, he’s still more determined than the elected officials who in fact wouldn’t even vote right now

If you don’t train ICE enough it makes them fascist. But also sometimes people spend ten years in an Ivy League school and become fascist. We must find the exact right amount of training and education to not be fascist.

The thing about people who reacted positively to Charlie Kirk’s death is that it was that a guy who sucked who died in an ironic way. It is not a vision of power. Those reacting positively to Renee Good’s death ARE exhibiting a vision of power, one where ICE kills you for dissent. It’s repeatable.

The packers remain the only team to have compelling games as the 7 seed since it’s been introduced. I’m sure they’d rather have won the game but that’s something.

Prison guards are flocking to ICE jobs and frankly this makes sense. Those of us who have been anti-prison organizers for decades have been saying that fascism already existed within prisons/jails. Our best teachers for how to survive fascism are incarcerated people.

I would love to go to the rally and vigil tomorrow but my wife has been on baby duty for basically 5 days straight with me back at work and I’ve got to give her the weekends. I wish we had a mass of politically educated people so I didn’t feel bad making this choice.

Why do Americans feel so powerless to stop this state violence? Well, knowledge is power, and Americans have very little of that. Military grade weaponry is also power, and the state has a lot of that.

It seems unlikely that Trump could get impeached and removed from office, but I think you could get JD Vance easy. He has no political friends or popular support and enough Republican Senators probably think they’re next in line if he goes. Plus it would be really really funny.

If I am ever killed by the armed Nazis marching through these streets I hereby ban libs from crying about how my death needs to be independently mourned as if it’s not related to the hundred other Nazi tendencies of the federal government.

Suffice to say that everyone who is a daily pedestrian has had a car inch closer to them than that ICE Nazi had to deal with within the last 48 hours and didn’t open fire. Here’s to you my fellow pedestrians you are better than government agents in every conceivable way.

If you can find a single liberal who actually follows through on their staunch anti-Trump position enough to see the light of Chavismo then I will believe The Resistance has the juice to finish this regime.

My son was 5th percentile in weight at his birth, then 25th percentile at 1 month and now he's 50th percentile at 2 months. This is unsustainable. I will be father to the world's largest 1 year old.

There's reason to compare Venezuela to Iraq but I encourage people to think beyond Maduro = Saddam. Saddam Hussein got to where he was by collaborating with the US, not antagonizing it. His politics did not offer any upside beyond regional stability. Also Maduro has no gassing the Kurds equivalent

The thing that supposedly makes this country "free" is that these fascists get to propagandize rather than rotting in a box. You're supposed to be scandalized that Maduro would never agree to give these people a bullhorn.

This take satisfies nobody but I do think Goldberg could've had a 2 month retirement angle in AEW and it would've rocked and since it was on a turner network it would've seemed way more authentic as a departure.

It's journalistic malpractice to write a piece like this and not mention that Machado was a supporter of the 2002 US-backed coup against Chavez (after which he was re-elected to government). That's also the rationale for banning candidacy. Pretty important context actually!

I'll spell it out: Offering that Maduro is bad but the strikes and kidnappings violated legal procedure, is discursively like closing the back door to Trump while opening the front door. You concede the moral case, and offer a legal one that nobody without a lanyard knows of or gives a shit about.

Over and over the US inflicts obscene violence against the global South, in flagrant violation of international law, to maintain the conditions for capital accumulation for its decadent billionaire class. It's disgusting and intolerable. We cannot continue to accept this.

I suppose if I wanted to have some optimism, the US did arrest Chavez once and he was back pretty soon after. This seems worse and being done by dumber people, but they cannot arrest the struggle for justice

I do wonder if this has always been an option for the richest man on earth. If Bill Gates or Warren Buffet had come out 15 years ago and debuted a racist CSAM machine did any economic levers exist to make them less rich or powerful? Have we lost actual guardrails or just lost the illusion of them?
