UMD men's hockey and longtime coach Scott Sandelin have never been to Fairbanks before. Thankfully, new senior center Kyle Gaffney knows the way after three seasons with the Alaska Nanooks.

One of the bigger differences here (and there aren't many, in essence) is that conference tournament games will not be subject to home/road weighting. An issue we've discussed on our podcast a few times, preventing penalizing a team that wins home ice for the playoffs.

UMD junior goaltender Eve Gascon is now tied with Maddie Rooney for fifth on UMD's career shutout list thanks to back-to-back shutouts at Syracuse this week.

Bulldogs sweep Syracuse with a 4-0 win. Eve Gascon only needs 13 saves to get her 13th career shutout, tying her for fifth with Maddie Rooney on UMD's career shutout chart. Kim Martin is fourth at 16 career shutouts.

Update: Johansson now has four goals and the score is 4-0 late in the third period.

I spoke to a rookie, a transfer and a returner last week during UMD men's hockey media day to get different perspectives on the 2025-26 Bulldogs. They all agreed, it's the sophomores that drive this team. Season preview: www.duluthnewstribune.com/sports/bulld...

The Bulldogs only needed 27 seconds to score at Syracuse en route to a 4-0 road win. Gascon finished with 33 saves to move her up the record books.

Eve Gascon now has 12 career shutouts in 54 games, putting her sixth all-time at UMD, breaking a tie with Jenny Harss. Gascon’s next shutout will tie her with Olympic gold and silver medalist Maddie Rooney for fifth. Emma Soderberg holds the program record with 23 in 87 career games.

4-0 Final. Bulldogs improve to 3-0 with a win at Syracuse. UMD back at Syracuse again at 5 p.m. tomorrow to wrap up the lengthy road trip.
