Haven't been watching this Penn State-Michigan State outdoor game long, but my one thought is the ice looks like absolute shit.

I can't get this out of my head. Blessing and a curse. Been thinking about it a lot. Here's what I think: These guys are dogs. Especially Hanson and Max Plante (not slighting the other sophomores, but I think these two are a little different). But they are still young and learning.

Something to watch tonight: Max Plante has not gone more than two games without a goal this season. He currently has not scored a goal in two games.

Plante-Plante-Shaugabay combined for 27 shot attempts in all situations, missed the net 10 times. 14 shots on goal, all saved. They weren't together 5v5 the whole third period, and we're left to wonder if they'll be together to start on Saturday. I do think there's a nonzero chance we see a change.

UMD missed the net on 24 of 80 shot attempts tonight, including 10 of 42 in the third period. Denver blocked 13 shots in the third, 21 for the game.

Three straight 4-3 losses. Shades of 2015-16, when UMD lost three straight games all by a 2-1 score, almost the same time of year too.
