WHY AUTHORS DRINK Next book goes pre-order next week, so I'm finishing the indexing to finalize the page count. We realized my intro appears twice, so publisher deleted the extra text. Which changed the pagination by 2 pages. But not consistently, of course. Goodbye two weeks of indexing.

The only advantage for video is that you can produce a quick tutorial faster than creating written documentation. We still have never produced something better for finding the info you need than a decent index in the back of a book.

#TinyJoys I enjoy indexing archaeological site reports for publishers and archaeological units. A big #TinyJoy is all the science that does amazing things with tiny bits of stuff from thousands of years ago and sheds light on how people in the past ran their lives.

Cook book indexing is a skill, sadly not always paid for, or space allowed for these days.

The 1987 edition of Rick Bayless’ Authentic Mexican Cooking has 21 pages of index for a 384 page book. I really miss that level of thoroughness in modern cookbooks. So many publishers cheap out on the indexing.
