Is horror back?.. It never left. It’s always a draw as long as the movie is solid. Word of mouth is the ultimate driver. People like to go see good movies.

BREAKING: A few minutes ago, a vehicle of three people was rammed by a truck belonging to federal immigration authorities in Boyle Heights, CA. According to security footage shown to me, they deployed chemical munitions & detained the driver at gunpoint. All are US citizens according to the wife.

Thousands of New Yorkers march in lower Manhattan calling for ICE out of New York. Starting at Foley Square and organized by PSL, the masses have flooded the streets and are moving west. This demo is permitted but even if it wasn’t, it would be far too large for NYPD to contain.

Our president is sending the National Guard in an attempt to start a fight he wants for political gain. Again, this dude should not be president.

Talked to 2 very talented artists who used to do posters, storyboards, and design work for movies. In the last year AI has replaced them and they no longer can make a living doing so. Just putting it out there, I’m not interested in any form of art generated by AI. It’s ugly and it’s just theft.

Joe Abercrombie’s The Devils comes out on Tuesday. His grimdark fantasy series The First Law is just screaming to become one of the best TV series if they ever can manage it. And now he’s tackling a new world with a horror spin. My most anticipated book this year coming out right by my birthday :)

So we were terrible at documenting the process of making The Wretched but we’re fixing that with part 2. Gonna be obnoxiously posting a lot on here about the process so apologies in advance. Some storyboarding today as we build the practical fx sequences.

Crazy how Ryan Coogler asking for a good deal on his own film and getting it becomes a controversy. He's hit homeruns for the studios for years now and knows his worth. It's badass is what it is.

One thing I really like about Mike Flanagan's films and TV is that I assume that all the actors are probably very nice people as he fosters a creative family. Just makes me like it all the better.

The hype is real. The Energon Universe comics are great. Really dig the GI Joe stuff especially.

Getting notes from your fellow filmmakers is way more fun than getting notes from execs. They still cut but they're all in service of story and character.

Final Draft sucks. We're literally wrapping up this draft and then it decides to randomly scramble text and formatting. This program is too expensive to be this shitty. Now I'm stuck cobbling together saved drafts and rewriting a ton.

My dog is my favorite person.

Just wrapping up the newest draft and we got a ten page sequence that I'm insanely excited to film. It's all the things we wanted to do with Wretched 1 but couldn't pull of with that working budget.

When I used to work at a video store I had friends that would throw "Lepfest" whenever a new Leprechaun film hit the video shelves. Thus, a full franchise rewatch would commence. It was quite the commitment that involved excessive booze.

I can't remember the last time a day went by that I didn't have to hear the word "tariff" or the name Musk. This sucks.

Nothing is more satisfying than cutting scenes whole cloth out of your script and seeing that page count shrink.

One of the best things about producing The Wretched 2 independently is not worrying about an exec or producer getting skittish about something we want to do. I love input and criticism but find you get a fair amount of notes based on fear within the studios.

Duking it out over the title of the movie with my bro is the most immature thing we do that no one sees. Second only to character names.
