The President has America on the brink of war, and is doing so again without Congressional approval. Using our military to seek a regime change is war. Period. Congress - and only Congress - has the authority to declare war under our Constitution.

I met with the team at Vets Recover to learn more about their mission and the phenomenal work they’re doing for veterans here in South Alabama.

I recently had the chance to meet with the cardiovascular team at Mobile Infirmary, tour their facility, and discuss the innovative work they are doing and the critical issues impacting healthcare in Alabama.

Excited that students from Spring Hill College visited my office in Washington, DC to discuss the issues they are passionate about. When young people get involved and make their voices heard, our communities are stronger for it.

Truly pathetic that a federal court has to force the Trump Administration to feed less fortunate children, elderly, veterans, and disabled people. A truly sad failure of leadership and compassion. Meanwhile, a $300M White House ballroom is the priority....truly can't make this stuff up.

Enjoyed visiting and learning more about Hooks Lake Port in Washington County. This is what my work on the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee is all about: supporting the infrastructure and industries that are critical to our District.

Had the chance to spend some time with Alabama’s future workers at the Montgomery Academy For Career Technologies. These kids will come out of high school ready for college or to start a career! This is what workforce development looks like!

My office has been in touch with Alabama State University and we will continue monitoring the situation. Keeping our students safe is the top priority. Local, state, and federal law enforcement are investigating these threats and actively looking for those responsible.

Every witness I questioned today at the House Ag subcommittee hearing on SNAP confirmed that Trump’s big, ugly bill gives states the power to cut off federal food assistance for everyone if the state does not cover the cost share. 
 A very sad day in America.

Yesterday marked the 60th anniversary of the Voting Rights Act of 1965, and its impact cannot be overstated. I joined the @splcenter.org last night to reflect on the battle for voting rights and discuss the urgent fight we are in now to ensure fair representation for all Americans.

Yesterday, I celebrated the 235th anniversary of the United States Coast Guard here in Mobile. Thank you to all who serve or have served in keeping us safe and protected through the years.
