I think a massive opportunity for children with additional needs would be to scrap the Friday spelling test. I cannot emphasise the amount of anticipatory anxiety and stress this can cause our children who (in a lot of cases) don’t benefit from it. Often they have memory difficulties. #EdChatIE

@mrsmoggie.bsky.social Every time I do the phonics screening check, children ask what the Pseudo words are and I tell them that they're the Monsters' names. For the first time ever, a child argued with me... "They can't be names, you said names need to start with a capital letter!"
