I'm officially not working for the next two weeks because school holidays, Brick Show and multiple other things. Guess who's working this afternoon?

End of term drama/singing showcase for Miss 10. Once again I am hiding in the kitchen and watching through the door. We figured out her aversion to being mic'd was the sound check so she happily mic'd up and was very enthusiastic in first song. Meanwhile I'm a blubbering mess.

M's Dad called a couple of hours ago to say M's Mum has been going downhill. She'd been in dementia care for some time. She passed away at 7 this evening.

Worked in the kitchen all day, now home to work in my own kitchen making an abundance of lolly cake for Miss 10's theatre showcase tomorrow.

There's no way I'd go to an open home in Auckland but I feel seen...

Welp, my step-gran who I love to pieces is not doing well. She's just been moved from Middlemore to a care facility with a broken hip and is struggling to eat.

Miss 10's BFF is staying for the weekend. Took them and the Lad to play minigolf. Cue meltdowns from BFF every hole because the Lad "shouldn't be better than me" Diplomatic Miss 10 explained the Lad learned from an expert (my Dad). An exhausting round. Having wine while they watch Spaceballs.

The Child Disability Allowance I receive has gone up by a gobsmacking $5.78 a fortnight. Whatever shall I do with these new found riches?

Welp, hours are being cut at work. As I'm the only casual employee, it's all about me. 14 hours last week, 7 hours this week, 3 next week. And there's stuff all out there.

Jeeves the Robot Vacuum's new tentacles arrived today and he cleaned his room (under the TV table) and immediate surroundings very vigorously for twenty minutes before moving on to the rest of the floor so I will endeavour to ensure he always has fresh tentacles in future.

After a week of Miss 10 constantly singing "I'm Alive" thanks to a Xanadu audition she's moved onto Blondie's Atomic which I'm not sick of....yet

My step-gran who has always been amazing is in Middlemore awaiting hip surgery after a fall. My mother only told me today, two days after it happened. My stepfather and her have left her there. I feel very out of the loop.

A parent who helps with school swimming talked to me at school the other day and said Miss 10 is doing really well with swimming. I explained I wasn't able to take her swimming because of my skin issues so they offered to take her on a swimming playdate this afternoon!

TIL there's a Chickenstock festival in my area tomorrow that includes chicken dressage and I am totally going.

Afternoon shift of yet another sausage sizzle fundraiser went swimmingly. I smell like sausage and onions but Miss 10 has claimed the bath.

Since the New Regime started at work they have taken away our kitchen hands so the chefs have to wash the dishes and mop the floors. We have accepted that given the Times. However, now New Manager has taken away our free post shift drink and we are not happy.

Two police cars pulled up outside the local to arrest someone at the bus stop. They were not happy to be arrested so we've had quite the entertainment, especially the musician playing Folsom Prison Blues throughout.

We're going to watch Xanadu the film (which I believe is a musical) and then a stage version of Xanadu the musical. No prizes for guessing what show I'm working on next. I'm guessing this is why I was asked to procure a fake horse.

Took Miss 10 to see The Magic Faraway Tree. We both adore the books. I enjoyed it but a montage of the children visiting other places would have made it better. Miss 10 is already trying to negotiate going again tomorrow.

In search of a life sized horse mannequin/ex carousel horse that can bear the weight of a person. Anyone in Ao/NZ got any ideas on procuring one?

Spent all afternoon with food, set-up and rehearsal for Miss 10's drama and singing showcase. Decided last minute I couldn't sit in the audience so am watching through the kitchen window....

On one hand, it's terribly sweet that my daughter wrote "I ❤️ U Mum" on the bathroom mirror but on the other hand it's in foot high letters using toothpaste.

80's themed ice skating theatre fundraiser last night. Miss 10 was second in the costume competition.

The whole "encouraging people to work from home but schools will stay open" thing has made me think a wee lockdownish* for a month in winter would be a double bonus; reducing flu and COVID transmission and fuel consumption. *I just made up this word, haven't defined it yet.

Had a lovely time at the local with my local friends and a lovely duo playing excellent music. Was going to have a dance party with Miss 10 but have been called in for work tomorrow.

Phonecall with dietician that I was so nervous about went well. 2 months of the premade Ensure is on the way to us and the dietician is discussing with the Lad's gastroenterologist about it being a longer term option. I was in tears, I'd thought it was going to be a disaster!

We've done some tweaks to Ensure powder preparation (using milk frother without the frother to mix, letting it sit in the fridge before drinking) but the Lad came home from school early feeling nauseous and was nauseous yesterday. Now mixing up the other flavour hoping it will make a difference.

Having lunch at a pub before work and am still in my Kaylee costume. Getting some rather odd looks 🤣

The Ensure powder has arrived. So far it is not going well.
