Very dear friend was ambulanced to ED this afternoon...has been told he won't be seen for at least an hour and a half so he's gone to the closest pub for a pint... I am on standby to assist.

Argh. Mr 14 seems to be starting a Crohn's flare...first since January. I do not have the spoons for another hospital stay. Really hoping he improves in the next couple of hours but the poor lad is huddled in bed with a wheatie bag and is white as a sheet.

Neighbours over the fence (not to be confused with Neighbours down the back and Neighbours over the road) have had their sprinklers going since 3pm and most of the water is running into the street...it just seems so wasteful and they're still running.

Sun, wind, rain and hail made for an eventful twenty minute walk home from school.

I asked Miss 9 if she'd like to vacuum downstairs and she is delighted to do so. Best parenting hack.

Bone juice infusion for the Lad went super smoothly except for right at the end when he took a sip of water while half lying down and it went down the wrong way, causing mild panic because the nurses thought he was having a reaction...the Lad for some reason continued...

The Lad had a bleeding nose in the waiting room and another during the consult which was convenient for pinpointing where it was coming from. He did not deal well with the idea of cauterising but eventually agreed to it and was surprised how quick it was. Fingers crossed it's sorted for now.

Work today was boring as usual (anyone in Otautahi after a part-time daytime chef?) I am working at about 20% of my capacity but am enjoying being a magician because I can...make food?

Yay! The Lad is going to see the ENT doctor on Monday instead of next month to see about the nosebleeds. Now off to Dad's old local for a pint. Can't believe it's been two years.

Dad wrote his memoir during lockdown. I haven't read it since he passed (2 years tomorrow). I hadn't noticed the disclaimer taped inside until now (it's followed by a dedication to me). Right, diving in.

Just got sent a glowing review about Miss 9's dedication and precision and willingness to help others improve at the school production. Included was Miss 9's feedback: "I got to wear comfy pants"

There's a road worker standing by our mailbox guarding the newly sealed road. Miss 9 has given him a cookie, disclosed her name, my name, where I work and my phone number. May need to have yet another stranger danger discussion.

Have hung a load of washing OUTSIDE and Miss 9 and I have made a giant batch of cookie dough to make cookies for us and the neighbours who gave us a vast amount of mushrooms yesterday. Next up is prepping stroganoff for dinner with said mushrooms.

After being behind the scenes sporadically I finally got to watch a show and Miss 9 joined me and met one of the Badjellys.

Wore many hats at the theatre today doing fix ups for set, props and wardrobe, then home to calligraphy the certificates for cast and crew. At the pub for the foreseeable.

The Lads nosebleeds are getting more frequent; his ENT referral isn't until 10th November and I'm not quite sure what to do. I'd thought at this point I'd be bulk buying tissues for other reasons...

The Lad fell on the stairs at school which led to me leaving work 2 hours early whilst in the middle of prepping a function. Hopefully just a sprain but his low bone density is a worry to me. He's also upset because he's having flashbacks to his back fractures and being unable to move without help.

Two years ago pretty much to the day, my Dad was diagnosed with wild type glioblastoma. He was gone six weeks later. Really hope this research gets some positive outcomes.

After a very restless night with my skin flaring and one ear throbbing I have managed a bath and meds and am going on a road trip tomorrow to a funeral as a support person. Thankfully the ear has exploded and the skin meds are working.
