#OTD 1485, the Welshman Henry VII was crowned King of England in Westminster Abbey, a solemn and public confirmation of his right to kingship after his blazing victory at Bosworth Field two months earlier. It heralded the dawn of the Tudor dynasty, changing the face of England forever.

As I write my new 'Henry VII: Power & Propaganda' talk, ponder this - in his will, Henry left instructions for a gold statue of himself, in full armour, holding his crown, which was to be placed atop the shrine of Edward the Confessor. It was never made. Still, he got a pretty decent tomb.

Don't just buy the newest books. All your favourite authors have excellent back catalogues of works they spent years on. Make sure you pick up those as well (and even better, they tend to be cheaper paperbacks by this point). Older history has value too.
