Today people went around my neighborhood in north east London spray painting St George’s crosses onto people’s homes. Many of these houses have non British people living in them. This is getting very dark, very quick.

Just asked the guys at Walthastow station if there was a toilet and they looked at me like it was silly to even ask. I know, the end of the line, a tube station and an overground station, why on earth would you have a loo. Ended up paying £1.80 for a drink I didn't want to use the loo somewhere.

Cheeky weekday matinee. I've actually seen Ruth Wilson on stage before, in another Eugene O'Neill play. Anna Christie, at the Donmar in 2011. This is a sequel to Long Day's Journey Into Night, which I saw with David Suchet in 2011, one of the best things I've ever seen.

Vivid 7/7 memories. In a car heading to a meeting with an East London Council. Reports were still coming in of what was happening. Radio was reporting a power surge as a cause at one point. Then we got to the meeting and guy initially couldn't get in touch with his son, who'd been on the tube.
