New update on the ALS catalogue! 🌌 #galactic #stellarastro For this third version, Pantaleoni González et al. further expanded their list, combining Gaia DR3 with spectroscopic surveys. This allowed them to map out the position of more than 15,000 massive OB stars in the Milky Way!

An exciting paper has appeared today, led by Lily Kormann from the University of Vienna! With the extinction map from Edenhofer et al. (2024), they discovered seven local superclouds, only two of which, The Radcliffe Wave and The Split, were already known! #galactic arxiv.org/abs/2507.14883

A great explanation of this intriguing structure in the local Milky Way! I hope future research will help us to learn more about the Radcliffe Wave.
