I tried to have fun last night. I bought some film with cute little ghosts on it from my film shop. It was fun even if moving through a huge crowd cause me to shake and stun the whole night!!

This has been happening for 10 to 15 years for different memories, and i thought it was so normal and was simultaneously so ashamed I never brought it up to anyone. Traveling to countries where violence is the norm is more comforting to me. Having pure fun is not.

Malala writes how weed brought back memories of getting shot. I understand. Last night I did a simple thing by going to the famous NYC Halloween parade. I had a lot of fun. But then I couldn't sleep until 9am. I had flashbacks of tear gassed protests, being drunk, drugged, and alone in the city.

I hate Halloween. Not only does it remind me of my hallucinations or put me on a constant cortisol high, the decorations are made with dirty plastic and everything feels gross to the toych! Both my deep and superficial sides are not happy with this holiday.

I haven't had psychosis since I came back from my vacation in Mexico at the beginning of September. This is longest streak that I can remember of relaxed, sustained health. Maybe I should write a book and get a podcast.... oh wait! I did and co-host one! Just not at this moment lol. Need an agent...

When I was 14 during my first stay at a mental hospital, a girl my age with an infant said she checked herself in to get a break. Sometimes we think the mental hospital is the place to get those breaks. But now I take those breaks through travel and feeling/looking my best with people I love.

In the past week I had 1 depressive episode, followed by a psychotic one, followed by hypomania, then depression for a day, now I am neutral. Throughout it all I managed to care for 4 dogs, cook dinner 4x a week, walk 15 miles. Im learning how to balance my once harrowing schizoaffective disorder.

Solo traveling is not always easy for people with a psychotic disorder. Excessive spending is so common with mania. I was finally able to responsibly save up for a fun trip without going into credit card debt! I carry my pill box at all times. Traveling with mental illness can be done!

Should I enjoy this nice 75 degree weather or re-read my memoir so I can launch into another depressive episode? My natural personality leans toward one more than the other, and it is the one that does not make any sense.

The older I get i have to think about things like choosing a man and raising a potential son and I have realized more lately how much men are struggling with their mental health. It has been heartbreaking to realize in my personal life and I wish it were better for them.

I realize everyday how lucky I am to have family who accepts me both when I haven't showered in 4 days, sleeping 14 hours a day, psychotic and rambling while also celebrating my strengths. We segregate the two types of people often but most of society is bullshitting when they treat you bad for one.

I reached 200,000 views on Psychology Today the other day! I don't care what everybody else's view count is. The fact that people at all want to read about schizophrenia makes me feel like I am hitting something with the topics I write about.

Grammatical issues in schizophrenia are interesting to try to explain to my writing teachers and editors. There isn't a way I can say it isn't that I am unfamiliar with grammar, but that it happens inconsistently, it happens more with stress, and that I can, in fact, "write" (organize ideas).
