Statement from AsIAm in response to Autism misinformation by the US Government.

Paracetamol (Tylenol) does not cause autism, and it is a source of great dismay that autism researchers and Autistic advocates still have to spend so much time battling misinformation. Research on causes of autism systematically fails to control for the existence and behaviour of Autistic parents.

On Trump, autism and tylenol: A student I was talking to today had it exactly right on this latest White House bullshit claim “It’s at the perfect intersection of hating disabled people and wanting women to be in pain” There’s not only no link, the claim is both ableist and misogynist.

Autism existed before Tylenol. That’s all you need to know.
