Okay, Alan Wake 1 was framed as a horror game, but it was actually an action game about a horror story. Alan Wake 2 is very much a survival horror game, and it's easily one of the best ones I've played in the last 5-6 years (that isn't a remake)

This. One Piece has always been political, and pretty damn openly so(as long someone isn't either too much of a massive dumbass to notice or is willfully ignorant of those aspects.) And that is to its benefit and an important part of the series strength & staying power.

I like that even though One Piece has no actual countries from our world, the member of the Straw Hats who is a loud guy wearing a Hawaiian shirt and powered by soda is somehow still appropriately an American(according to the series creator.)

So glad this is out now since Hellblade was one of the scant few PS4 games that has backwards compatibility issues on PS5(there are some unique graphical glitches), so now I believe Sleeping Dogs Definitive Edition is the only physical game I have that still has noticeable issues playing on my PS5.

One life lesson I've learned is that life is chaotic. You can either make detailed plans & loads of contingency plans for when those plans go awry. Or you can make loose plans and focus on getting good at steering when things inevitably go off the rails. The second approach tends to work better.

Maybe a controversial opinion, but I like video games sequels that do the "very similar to previous entries, but better and more refined" approach AND ones that take the "radically different, but still recognizably the same series, even if only spiritually" approach. Ditto for films and stuff, too.

Yeah, John Carter the film seems derivative of a lot of science fiction/fantasy/superhero things. That's because the source novels influenced A LOT of science fiction, fantasy, and superhero stuff. Or were part of a layer of influence, influencing the things that influenced other things.

I'm very much a feminist, pro-LGBTQIA+, pro people of color, etc., even though I am a white guy who considers themselves both straight and LGBTQIA+ simultaneously(since I am heterosexual but also demisexual and theoretically pan-romantic).

Pod People and Space Mutiny are my recommended "starter" Joel and Mike MST3Ks since they are classic episodes with movies that, while bad, are far from the worst. And they each work well at highlighting Joel and Mike's "styles". Both are great(as are both Jonah & Emily too) but they ARE different.

One of the best Rifftrax of the last few years, the one for Gumby The Movie, is up free with ads right now on PlutoTV. I highly recommend it. It is hilarious while simultaneously the movie isn't godawful, which makes it a good "starter" Rifftrax.
