A critical look at where we are and what the issues are. Also, I get crucified for mentioning Mustafi.

Arsenal should try to create patterns and structures, in build up, on finding Odegaard inside the block rather than outside it. Comes down to risk taking & skill in midfield, probably why Partey is preferred & why I feel we miss Zinchenko.

Was thinking about our injuries in the back line before I saw this. When the injury record looks like a Minesweeper board, it's hard to play with coherent dynamics when every week your fullback combination is different.

The left side felt much more coherent yesterday with the Merino x Martinelli connections. The former made a high number of underlapping runs, which helped us open up Monaco. Quite significant that the first choice LHS of Merino x Martinelli x Calafiori have started 1 game so far.

Serious conversations need to happen about the left hand side at Arsenal now. Martinelli - Xhaka - Zinchenko was a lethal combo, partially due to how CM (Zinny) + 8 (Xhaka) funnelled play into Martinelli's direct runs. It isn't about balance anymore, we need Calafiori and Merino to start.
