This reminds me of something that happened to my father. He was on holiday in South Africa. For some reason he chose to watch Silence of the Lambs on his own late at night. Just as Clarisse Starling enters the Mothman’s house, a ginormous butterfly brushed off my dad’s face & landed on his lap. 🦋😱

A nice little story from a few weeks ago. I was in Paris and me & my 9yo were trying to get through the turnstile in a metro station. We had Navigo cards with credit but for some reason they wouldn't work. As we walked away an older man called us back & used his card to get us through! So kind.

May I present my holiday food/drink price scandal for the season? 97 euro for 3 bog standard croque mossieurs and 2 fries in Paris (okay, it was on the Champs Elysee). Why is it so expensive? 9 euro for a coke, that’s why. We ordered 3 without checking the price first!

This latest madcap Internet plan from the Irish Govt will have EU-wide consequences as many of the most critical encrypted messaging systems companies are based here. Use Apple’s iMessage or Meta’s WhatsApp in the EU? You should be contacting your Govt and getting them to object to Ireland’s plan.

Class action is where it’s at! This is exactly what I’ve been saying. Even if, as a lawsuit, this drags on & goes in circles, a huge positive for authors is the chilling effect this could have on the Ai industry as they pause before taking copyright material and ask “who might sue us if we do this?”

Haven’t listened to much music lately; was curious what my brain would unearth for me to sing around the house while cleaning etc. So far, I’ve done ‘Be not afraid’ (yes the religious song) in the style of David Bowie (very fun!) and a rousing rendition of ‘The Craic was 90 in the Isle of Man’.
