In the margins of the Helsingborg foreign ministers’ meeting, 🇫🇴 FM Nielsen met with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, followed by talks with Adm. Pierre Vandier, SACT, on the Faroe Islands’ strategic role and closer cooperation to strengthen security and stability in the High North.

At today’s meeting in Helsingborg 🇫🇴 FM Nielsen joined Nordic, Canadian, and U.S. counterparts to discuss security and defence in the High North. The Faroe Islands continue to support NATO priorities through strengthened surveillance, joint exercises, and increased allied presence.

🇫🇴 Beinir Johannesen appointed Prime Minister of the Faroe Islands Born in 1997, Johannesen is the youngest to become Prime Minister in the history of the Faroe Islands. He is backed by a broad coalition of the People’s Party, Union Party, and Social Democratic Party.
