Happy Hump Day! Ahh, the old days of arguing with the Burned Furs, LOL. I messed up on this and forgot to give Xydexx his original coloring (he was originally off-white with a black mane and tail). Oops. Anyway, I'm glad there are so many pooltoy furries around today to make the fandom squeakier.

Furry has been kinky since the beginning as illustrated by these photos from Confurence 1993 (curated by www.instagram.com/d0gfag/) There has always been a demand for adult spaces in furry. The fandom was founded on the idea that adults can use anthro animals and cartoons to express adult interests.

Last year @anthrocon.org made me their con historian. And I am in the process of scanning all the historic con books. Thankfully we kept one from each year. Gonna try to have a nice display for this year as AC is celebrating 20 years in Pittsburgh.

After Henson died, NPR re-ran an interview. They had to lead with the announcement: "We're sorry for the poor audio quality. The engineer made an understandable mistake and miked the frog." THAT is how good Jim Henson was. Also: he was gremlin enough to say nothing when it happened.

D'oh... I just realized I was on stage at Fur Squared and forgot to tell the tequila story for MCFC / @alkalibismuth.bsky.social ... There's a good chance they might not remember it. I need to find a chance to embarrass them on stage with it.

I know times have changed... But I am still surprised when my fur-con email gets various city tourism boards trying to get a sales-lead on us and to convince us to move to their area. In my head, these cons are all still a college room party that has gotten severely out of hand.

I struggle at times to find a way to explain to people the gremlin energy of Fur Squared. "Well.. at closing ceremonies we were all chanting in support of an empty box and almost started another cult." ... doesn't quite cover it... #fursquared

One of the common discussions I used to have with @frangwhuf.bsky.social at a "unicorn" silicon valley company was how surprisingly often classical philosophy and various other arts and humanities directly applied to the problem domains we were working with.
