Variable. 120 foot was the base for a long time. Drifting upwards of 300 depending on context. For more normal interactions? 9, 12 and 20 foot. Sometimes far far beyond all that. Very rarely, smaller ranges too. (There's a whole logic behind it. But that's more than the question asked.)

It's been a rough Christmas with travel times, business, and other activities all piling up. Long hours. And society is well... (gestures at everything) For the first time in many years I feel unprepared. But at least I just made some banana bread with choco chips and nuts to take over to Dad tig.

I am astonished that microsoft teams has no facility to set a max rate of audible alerts. Or to recognize that re-alerting for every line of an active conversation is dumb. Their alerting controls are so basic. I can only imagine that everyone dogfooding it at MS just has alerts turned off.

This here, a proud and upsetting member of His Majesty's Royal Navy, is Pollyanna the reindeer. And for the avoidance of doubt, she's the one on the right of the photograph.

Went back to Philly for a quick trip. Had a chance to visit a breakfast restaurant I used to go to a lot. It’s called “Tigers.” (Don’t judge me!) They have some neat decor here and there. They’re still there and still decent. Though you can tell the economy is squeezing folk.

Holy crap migraine.... It's been a few years but this one ran me over like a bus. Wow. Even the migraine-hangover sucks.
