Yay, another day, another email from "security researcher" about CVE "discovered" in a package I've published. And yet again, it is AI slop. At first glance it seems like solid CVE, but yet again relies on unrealistic scenario user has no access to. I'm tired of AI slop.

Automated deployments have been very unreliable lately with NPM. Usually NPM fails to download and install packages for about 20-30 minutes after new version has been published. But today, deploy failed because NPM thinks "@vue/shared" 3.5.39 (released 2 days ago) does not exist.

Added support for Astro to Iconify Unplugin: github.com/iconify/icon... However, it is not recommended because icons are generated by splitting SVG to SVG + CSS, which all browsers support, except for Safari. Use islands with Vue, Svelte or React components instead, which have Safari fallback.

Spent last 2 full days coding in Zed... and I'm not planning to go back to VSCode. Zed is very impressive! There are minor annoyances and quirks, mostly related to syntax highlight and functionality of code autocomplete, but it is significantly faster and works perfectly in large monorepos.

I'm experiencing a huge issue with VSCode for last 2 days: import suggestions no longer work in any project. Nothing new installed recently. Disabled all extensions, VSCode is still broken. Anyone experiencing the same issue?

Fun fact: NPM has limit on how many packages you can publish consequently! Ran a script to update packages for over 200 icon sets for 4 frameworks (adding new feature), so 800+ packages. NPM started timing out after about 500 packages. Had to wait for about an hour before I could publish again.

There are many excellent icons with multiple colors, but hardcoded palette makes them hard to use. Now, when using Iconify icon packages, you can customise colors, opacity and stroke-width of icons using CSS variables! See documentation: iconify.design/docs/usage/s...

New versions of Iconify Tools and Iconify for Tailwind have been published. These are security updates for SVGO. As far as I can see, chances of exploit are close to 0 (must use untrusted SVG) and it is harmless (it will just freeze or crash), it is still worth updating.

I've added a SVG to SVG+CSS converter to my website: cyberalien.dev/svg-to-css/ It is a very basic tool, which creates CSS for SVG, reducing HTML size by a lot. Be aware that SVG+CSS cannot be used in production yet, still waiting for Safari to support "d" attribute in CSS.

Iconify offers pre-made components for Vue and Svelte that render icons as SVG + CSS: "@iconify-vue/{prefix}" and "@iconify-svelte/{prefix}". SVGs are small, better than SVG sprites! Update for `line-md` icon set: it now uses CSS animations. That means HTML for animated icons is very small.

Safari 26.3 is here... and it is yet another disappointing release. Still no full support for `path()` in CSS. Other browsers have supported this for years. Safari Technology Preview has supported this since 2024. What does this mean? No animations for SVG paths with CSS yet because of 1 browser.

Iconify icon sets are updated from multiple sources, but mostly from Git repositories and Figma documents. Unfortunately, updating from Figma documents is no longer possible. Figma has introduced heavy rate limiting for API queries, making it impossible to retrieve document with many SVGs from API

Iconify Unplugin now supports multiple ways of rendering CSS for icons: - Import CSS files - CSS modules - Embed CSS in SVG Importing CSS files is default - it reduces duplication and keeps small class names. CSS modules is one of options for using plugin with Next github.com/iconify/icon...

Update to Iconify Unplugin: added option to render full SVG instead of SVG+CSS. Why would you want that? - To support legacy browsers if fallback icon is not available. - Next.js - it doesn't allow css files outside of App.tsx, which sucks. Result is similar to using Unplugin Icons
