If I was still in Parliament, I would be voting today to legalise assisted dying. This is a long overdue reform

Disastrous, shortsighted decision to end funding for scheme to get bright graduates into mental health social work. We set this up when I was minister. Mental health social work had been a neglected area. Mental health social workers play a vital role.

I’ve come to the end of my time as Chair at S London and Maudsley. Sincere thanks to staff, people using services & so many community representatives for making me welcome. Proud we’ve embarked on journey to become anti-racist & to develop early community support to improve care & reduce detentions

Grateful for opportunity to give evidence to Health & Social Care Select Committee today making case for reform of community mental health services learning from Trieste. 24/7 support in neighbourhoods, recognising social causes of ill health, working closely with primary care & community orgs

Legal experts, including two former Directors of Prosecution, back @kimleadbeater 's proposal to include senior legal experts, social workers and psychiatrists as "sensible and practical". A clear improvement on the status quo - hope MPs act to support it.

I so strongly believe in the case for assisted dying. @julianhuppert is absolutely right. It should be my right, not the state’s, to decide if I want assistance in dying when faced with terminal illness.
