Terminally ill people have joined forces with photographer, Rankin, to urge MPs to "back the assisted dying bill again". This comes as new polling shows 7 in 10 want Parliament to reach a decision on the subject - and 6 in 10 agree that the Government should facilitate this.

Anyone who has ever accompanied someone in the terminal stages of cancer knows how true this is. You have a perfect right to die as painful and protracted as death as possible if you wish; but those who wish to go with dignity, at a time of their own choosing, should be given the same right.

“The democratic mandate to enact safe assisted dying in this country has not gone away.” @lewisatkinson.bsky.social is another MP ready to back the assisted dying Bill again, and fulfil the democratic commitment to dying people - and to all of us - to legalise choice at the end of life.

The status quo is failing dying people. It forces people like Louise's husband Anthony to travel abroad and risk criminalising their loved ones. Others, like Josh's mum Lisa, are denied any choice at all. MPs must bring the assisted dying bill back and deliver meaningful choice at the end of life.

Ahead of the King’s Speech today, The Daily Express shared heartbreaking end-of-life stories from their readers to show why MPs must “finish what they started” and legalise assisted dying. MPs have already voted for compassion. It's time to back the assisted dying bill again.
