Beth Rigby: "Keir Starmer has changed his top team more than I've had hot dinners." In two years before Starmer we had 3 PMs, 4 Chancellors, 3 Foreign Secretaries, 5 Home Secretaries, 5 Education Secretaries, 5 Cabinet Secretaries, etc. - total 221 ministerial departures. Maybe Beth is on a diet.

Saying a wealthy person “is worth x million pounds“ implies that a poor person “is worth nothing”. Can we go back to saying a person owns x million pounds, or their fortune amounts to x million pounds, or similar?

I’ve been having a few too many conversations like this. Them: Hi Kate, how are things with your work, with the world? Me: the university is under attack, democratic norms being broken in half, so, pretty bad. Them: But everything is going to come back and be okay after the midterms. Me: Uhh, no.

Starting July 7, 2025, the National Archives at College Park will shut its doors to the public. Only those with “legitimate business” can enter. A federal records facility—closed to the very public it’s supposed to serve? This should raise eyebrows. It smells BAD.

In times like this, integrity matters. Well done 👏🏽 👏🏽 👏🏽 Top lawyers walked out of Paul Weiss to start their own firm—right after the firm cut a shady deal with the White House to dodge an executive order that would’ve limited its business. Some folks still have a spine.

Before the election, I warned that there is no safe haven under authoritarianism. If they can ship Kilmar Abrego Garcia to a foreign prison—accused of no crime, with no trial—they can do it to anyone. Americans of conscience must stand against this now.
