A friend of mine asked if they could run Unstream anytime Spotify is playing – they kept forgetting to open it. Unstream has a setting where you can automatically open when you log into your Mac, but you can also use macOS Shortcuts to launch Unstream whenever you open Spotify or Apple Music. How:

Reframing my music release strategy to this: I don't care much about maximizing reach anymore. I release music for myself, friends, and current & potential followers of my work. I go about finding those potential followers in community spaces where I can be myself and my ideas resonate.

You have to be optimistic. It's really hard right now to be, but you kind of have to. Otherwise you just give into the cynicism that led to this mess in the first place.

Considering how much of the political discourse around our impending government shutdown is completely made-up performative garbage, I think my releasing a single called “performance” this week will end up pretty timely 👹

“performance” will be the last thing I publish to a streaming service for the foreseeable future. That release will be a “single edit” (meaning it’s not technically the whole 8.5-minute album cut, so you still are in for a treat at album time).
